Invisalign Braces

Invisalign is a series of customized clear aligners created by Align Technologies. They are now popularly known as the Invisible Braces. Patients can straighten their teeth without anyone knowing that they actually wearing braces. These clear aligners are made of durable medical grade plastic trays that are adapted based on the patients’ teeth. Invisalign aligners look like teeth bleaching trays but each aligner is perfectly and tightly fitted and worn sequentially by the patient to produce extensive tooth movements in both upper and lower arches.

Invisalign uses digital imaging technology to simulate the patient’s entire treatment plan from the initial teeth position to the final desired position. The most important difference of Invisalign from traditional braces is that Invisalign has an established pre-determined time control and force application. At each stage, certain aligner is worn for about two weeks to move teeth progressively then replaced by the next in the sequence until the final teeth position is achieved.

Wearing Invisalign braces is more comfortable because patients can eat and drink what they want during treatment. Invisalign is detachable allowing patients to brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene. There are no metal brackets or wires as with braces to cause mouth and gums irritation.

Invisalign Braces are only intended for those individuals with teeth crowding or spacing problems. It is not prescribed for those who need extractions nor has severely crooked teeth. The costs of Invisalign braces are usually higher than traditional braces because they are customized and are fabricated from the factory. Patients can also experience tooth pain brought about by the tray or aligners that cause the teeth to move to its correct position.
