Laser Bleaching

Laser Bleaching is synonymous with Plasma Arc Light and a relatively new method of teeth whitening. This procedure is done by using an argon laser to stimulate the translucent bleaching gel on the patient’s teeth that energize crystals to absorb energy from the light. The Laser saturates the teeth enamel which augments the whiteness of the teeth. The length of this procedure depends on the patient’s original teeth color.

The Laser procedure is not invasive and does not involve any heat application and can give patient brilliant teeth without pain in just one visit. Laser bleaching is usually prescribed for patients that have discolored teeth due to hereditary factors and other internal causes.

The patient will be examined to assess if he is capable to undergo Laser Bleaching. Then, a pre-operative digital photo of the teeth will be taken so the patient will see the before and after results of this procedure. After which, the cheek retractors are placed to part the lips and tissue from touching the teeth. Light cure dam which is cured with the argon cursing laser is placed to safeguard the gingiva from the bleaching gel then the bleaching material is placed. The CureStar argon laser is enforced to each tooth for 30 seconds at 200mw. Bleaching gel is washed off from the teeth after 3 minutes. Light cure dam is removed and post-operative photos taken.

The benefit of this procedure is that discoloration of teeth can be whiten instantly without exposing the entire mouth and gums and you can see the aftermath after one visit. There's no follow up treatments required afterwards, and the procedure is done within one to two hours. It has a 93% appeasement rate with a five to ten shades whiter effect without softening enamel or existing fillings. The life span of this result will depend on the individual’s habit such as drinking coffee, tea, dark soft drinks and smoking.

Laser Bleaching is not prescribed when patient had sensitive teeth. Dentists see it that whitening procedure will not directly penetrate on the patient’s teeth so it may not cause damage. Only 10% of the patient had some sensitivity and minor ache but it lasts in less than a day and is curable by aspirin.
