Lip Enhancement

Lip enhancement that was performed by a cosmetic dentist could make lips noticeably fuller and more beautiful in the absence of undergoing from any painful cosmetic procedure. Dental lip enhancement requires no needles, no incisions, no grafting, and the best of all is having one's teeth made more striking under the same simple procedure.

It is considered sensual and youthful to have full lips. Lip augmentation has become a prevalent cosmetic procedure where patients have been traditionally injected with fat, collagen, and even freeze-dried cadaver skin by plastic surgeons to make bigger, fuller lips and to smooth smile line wrinkles.

Today, there is a way offered by modern cosmetic dentistry to beautify a person's lips with no injections, incisions or grafts done. A procedure is also offered wherein there is no fat, collagen and cadaver skin is to be implanted. The optimum advantage of this procedure is the reparation of the teeth during the same procedure.

As compared to many other cosmetic treatments, dental lip enhancement procedures work on the same basic principal problems. In order to modify the appearance of the surface, the structure underneath is engorged. The lips appear fuller by enlarging the teeth for the reason that the teeth support the lips.

A slight or profound difference can be seen as regards to the effect of dental lip enhancements, depending on how the teeth are changed. Fuller yet natural-looking lips can be controlled and produced by a well-trained dentist depending on the amount of enhancement.

There are two possible ways by which dental lip enhancements can be performed. One is by changing the shape of one’s arch of teeth (or “bite”) through orthodontics. The second one is by changing the shape of the front teeth through restorative treatments such as laminate veneers or porcelain crowns.

An orthodontic lip enhancement is a procedure where orthodontists use braces or special mouth appliances such as removable or permanent retainers to physically move teeth. The treatment can last months or even years depending on a patient's situation. However, fuller lips can be obtained and the patient will be proud to spread those lips into wide smiles as the teeth will look perfect. This treatment is advisable for people with crooked teeth and thinner lips though there are other certain faster procedures for lip enhancement.

In restorative-treatment lip enhancement, the appearance of teeth and lips may be rapidly altered by utilizing veneers and crowns. Veneers are specially made shells affixed to the front of the teeth while crowns, otherwise known as caps, are made of porcelain which can fit over the front teeth to create a new surface over the whole tooth. Some layers of the teeth are required to be removed for both crowns and veneers in order to make room for the thickness of the crown or veneer material. Otherwise the tooth would look and feel too large.

Crowns require that more of the tooth be removed since crowns go completely around the tooth, whereas veneers are fitted to the front of a tooth only. To make room for the laminate, usually in veneers, only a few layers of enamel are required to be removed. In this regard, dentists often suggest getting veneers except if the tooth has severe decay damage. A combination of crowns and veneers are used to get the best result, in some cases.

Crooked teeth may appear straight, stained teeth may be restored to their natural white color, and lips may be better supported with the provision of both crowns and veneers. These dental procedures can produce larger, fuller looking lips whether you have naturally thin lips or your lips have thinned with age.

The duration of the effect of a lip enhancement method depends on the procedure chosen. Always remember the fact that some procedures are semi-permanent while others last only for a very short period. Orthodontic alteration of teeth is nearly permanent while crowns and veneers last from five to twelve years, depending on a variety of factors. They can be replaced if they break or wear down as in most cases. On the other hand, collagen-injection lip enhancement usually lasts for one to three months.
